Going out and volunteering in Africa has always been a dream of mine, and every donation you make takes me one step closer. I'll hopefully post a thank you video expressing gratitude to anyone and everyone who helps make my dream a reality! I'll post pics and videos on www.instagram.com/votehipps to show you what the experience was like when I return.
Things I might have to give up for the 3 months I am over seas:
my conventional toilet
24/7 internet access (including dank memes)
alcohol
my delicious local Chinese takeaway
the toilet I have gotten so used to
being able to have a do nothing day
being gay (its illegal in Uganda) So no Grindr
the idea that I don't have to squat over a hole to go to the toilet
Ginger's Comfort' ice cream
And seeing all my amazing friends and family every day
Just a note: the volunteer trip (where I won't have access to a conventional toilet) is already funded for. To prove that I am 100% invested in the charity I have been given a target of £800, so your donations won't be wasted on a double vodka and coke at the local pub (/factory Thursdays) but will be sent straight to Restless Development and the amazing work they do.
Restless Development is championing a growing movement, led by a new generation that is more active, more connected and more able to lead the change needed than ever before. Our vision is that young people everywhere are able to demand and deliver a just and sustainable world. In the past 30 years, our network of young volunteers has grown to over 17,000 people worldwide. They have trained, inspired and helped more than seven million children, young people, and community members in Africa, South Asia and the UK.
