The Memusi Foundation has a mission - it provides hope for the people around the world through access to education. In firm belief that education is the primary way for people to escape poverty in their lifetime, The Foundation work with communities around the to provide sustainable solutions.

Story

Memusi recently had an all female volunteering group whom called themselves Girl Power. Empowered by stories heard first hand of hard work, determination and the daily struggles from our inspiring female students, teachers and Maasai community, the Girl Power group wanted to find a way to do something more to help keep these determined girls in school and to keep them safe also.

The Memusi Foundation are continually taking steps to encourage girls to stay in education through the following:

♀ Increasing awareness on the benefits of educating females within the community

♀ Providing financial support to girls moving onto secondary school

♀ Providing extra support to adolescent girls including female hygiene products.

The charity are looking to continue this support to the girls by also helping provide on site boarding facilities.

Girls’ education is both an intrinsic right and a critical lever to reaching other development objectives. Providing girls with an education helps break the cycle of poverty: educated women are less likely to marry early and against their will; less likely to die in childbirth; more likely to have healthy babies; and are more likely to send their children to school. When all children have access to a quality education rooted in human rights and gender equality, it creates a ripple effect of opportunity that influences generations to come.
