Story
Another year another trek. 2017 sees me doing my own event where I intend walking 7 consecutive days doing 26+ miles a day and would welcome people to join in with me for any or all of the walks.
.. yes.. 7 walked marathons over 7 days, concluding at the Crowborough Summer Fair on July 8th 2017. (circa 190 miles)
I have set up this page to allow anyone joining me to feed donations into it and I will list all of the walking contributors that do so. This is about the walk and Autism so it is myevent page.
I struggle to explain to people why I would want to do this.... my usual answer is...... because I can..
I need your support in raising funds for the National Autistic Society... my charity of choice for 2017.
Lets see if we can all make a difference.... again
The National Autistic Society is the leading UK charity for autistic people, including those with Asperger syndrome, and their families.
Autism is a lifelong developmental disability which is a spectrum condition, so it affects people differently. Some but not all autistic people also have learning disabilities, mental health issues or other conditions, so they need differing levels of support.
Fact - Only 15% of autistic adults are in full-time work..... this is shameful as autistic people, with the right support, can learn and develop the same as all of us. The National Autistic Society is here to help.
The society relies on public support, and your donations will help so much.£5 can help a worried parent get advice and information from one of our Helpline Advisers following their child’s diagnosis.£100 can help one of our volunteer-led Branches host an information morning for people living with autism in their local area.£1,000 will help ensure our campaigns reach as many people as possible. Our recent Every Teacher campaign succeeded in ensuring every new teacher will learn about autism as part of their Initial Teacher Training, from 2018.£2,400 can help run our Helpline for a week, ensuring we are able to help as many people affected by autism as possible, with each having a personal one-to-one conversation with someone who needs essential advice and information.
