Thank you for your donation to Action Cancer, we are grateful, with your help, to continue to offer our life-saving early cancer detection and support services here in NI to over 25,000 people every year! We deliver our services from Belfast and on board our Big Bus. All money raised stays in NI.

Story

Breast Cancer Facts

  • Around 950 women a year are diagnosed with breast cancer in Northern Ireland - the majority of them survive.
  • Breast cancer is rare in women under 30 years old.

Breast cancer claims the lives of 12,400 women each year in the UK. Over 42,000 new cases are diagnosed every year.

Breast cancer death rates in the UK have fallen by a fifth over the last ten years. Of those women diagnosed with breast cancer today, two-thirds are likely to survive for at least 20 years

The most effective proven method of intervention to reduce the mortality and morbidity associated with breast cancer is through regular screening of women at risk using screening mammography.

This year's MoonLight Walk begins at 10.00pm on Friday 18th June 2010, with us both supporting Action Cancer's Breast Screening services walking from Stormont to Belfast City Centre and back again.
