Our daughter Sophia was born 3 months early at just 28 weeks which came as not only a massive surprise but also a very scary one. However the journey we are on has been made easier with the support of the Winnicott Foundation and the Neonatal staff at Queen Charlottes Hospital! Their support and encouragement spurs you on, helps you cope and takes some of the strain off. We would like to raise money to give something back to them as a small way of saying thank you for everythihng they are doing for us, our little princess and every other parent that is on this journey! Below is just a little bit of what they do. 

The money you have donated helps in a number of ways. The Winnicott Foundation raises funds to improve care for premature and sick babies through supporting the neonatal units at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, and Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital, Hammersmith, by:
helping to save the lives of premature and sick newborn babieshelping families to be with their babieshelping to give premature and sick babies a better long-term futureAn independent registered charity, the Winnicott Foundation was founded in 1985 by parents and doctors who wanted to do more for premature and sick babies than the NHS was able to do. Originally formed to help the neonatal unit at St Mary’s, the charity is now supporting both of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust’sneonatal units at Queen Charlotte’s Hospital and St Mary’s Hospital.

The Winnicott Foundation works with staff and parents to meet the long-term and day-to-day needs of babies and families and of the neonatal units. The charity provides funding for:

supporting developmental care, including staff training and buying materials and equipment to make babies more comfortable such as baby clothes and cot and incubator covers to reduce noise and light, and providing information for parents and staffmedical equipment not available from NHS funds, such as new equipment or early upgrades to benefit from new technologyparent support, including help with travel costs and hotel accommodation for families whose babies have been transferred or are very sick, books and information, parent support groups, a hardship fund, and bereavement supportfamily rooms and nursery environment, such as reclining cotside chairs for skin-to-skin cuddles and breastfeeding, TV, PC and internet access, and refurbishment of the parent bedrooms and sitting roomresearchstaff training: helping increase skill levels in the neonatal unitinformation and technology including patient database, books and publicationsDonating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
