Story

Warrior walk, 26 mile marathon at night challenge for Lincoln

Please support us. We Warriors are taking on a 26 mile at night challenge to help our little warrior Lincoln to afford life changing surgery not funded on the NHS.

Led by Ed Hargreaves, experienced challenge leader, former Parachute Regiment and Royal Army Physical Training Corps fitness professional. Ed is working closely with Dad, Simon and brother William to make things happen for Lincoln. This is going to be a challenging, enjoyable, and unforgettable experience. Ed and the family would like to thank all those involved and those who have donated so far.

Beginning at sun down on the 21st July in the beautiful Warwickshire countryside, this spectacular challenge will see the fundraisers trekking over night to beat the sun up. To celebrate at the finish line with a well earnt rest. This night time challenge will test physical and mental limits but the efforts will be rewarded by knowing that all the hard work is going towards raising money to help little Lincoln. All proceeds going to help him reach his target. With your help, one day he might be able to use his legs and one day take on a challenge like this himself!

Lincoln has diplegia cerebral palsy, he has weakness and stiffness in the leg muscles, he can only walk short distances and fatigues easily. He experiences muscle spasms and, although he has a high pain threshold, lives daily with pain. This surgery can give him the independence to selfcare, not live in pain, get around more, do more, achieve his full potential and, with his attitude, the sky is the limit. You can help change his life!

He needs SDR surgery. Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) is a surgical procedure that aims to reduce spasticity in the lower limbs. SDR is major spinal surgery, effective in treating spasticity by cutting the nerve rootlets in the spinal canal that are sending abnormal signals to the muscle. In Lincoln’s case it is not funded through the NHS and we need to raise in excess £22,000 to enable him to have the procedure and the intensive month long physio recovery post op and beyond.
