Family Fundraising Page for MNDA in memory of Peter Angel

Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon 2023 · 14 May 2023 ·
On the 14th May 2023 we should have been running the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon to raise desperately needed funds for both the Rob Burrow MND treatment centre and the Motor Neurone Disease Association 🧡💙🧡💙 to bring awareness of what Motor Neurone Disease is and how it destroys not only the person diagnosed but the family and friends around them, also we need to highlight the lack of knowledge in the care system of this disease. UNFORTUNATELY DUE TO MY HEALTH IM UNABLE TO RUN NOW 😭 but Dean will still be running
50% of all funds raised over the £400 minimum fundraising will be going to the local north and east Herts branch who supported dad throughout the disease and are continuing to support our family.
On the 5th of February 2021 after a 23 month grueling battle of MND my mum lost her sole mate of 39 years, myself and Ivana lost our dad, our children lost their grandad and the rest of our family lost an amazing, kind and loving man. In that time we saw things and heard things you can never unsee or unhear.
The pain and hurt will never go away but us as a family will do what we can to help raise money to find a cure.
No person or family should have to suffer so horrifically and we need to find a cure
Motor neurone disease is a rare condition that affects around two in every 100,000 people in the UK each year. There are about 5,000 people living with the condition in the UK at any one
*Motor neurone disease kills a third of people within a year and more than
half within two years of diagnosis.
*MND is a fatal, rapidly progressing disease that affects the brain and spinal cord.
*MND can leave people locked in a failing body, unable to move, talk, swallow and eventually breathe, although their mind remains in good working order so their body effectively becomes a prison
*MND attacks the nerves that control movement so muscles no longer work. It does not usually affect the senses such as sight, sound, feeling etc.
*Six people are diagnosed every day. Up to 5,000 people are fighting MND at various stages of the disease. Six people die each and every day
MND - there is no cure, so let's help find one
We need your support. £120 could provide an overbed table, making it easier for someone with MND to eat, drink and read safely and comfortably in bed £230 could fund the coordination of care for someone with MND at a Care Centre for a year £500 could provide a tablet device with specialist communication software, allowing someone to communicate with loved ones £750 could fund an MND expert researcher for a weekEvery penny raised from The Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon will bring us closer to achieving our ultimate mission; a world free from MND.
