Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I had an operation to my foot which meant that I was unable to walk properly and pain-free for over a year.  After my recovery I decided I wanted to run.  This was just over 2 years ago.  At first it was just short distances and then I built it up.  From there I entered a couple of races and competitions, just to keep my interest going.  I have now run 2 half marathons and for some reason I have decided to join my husband and daughter in running the Paris Marathon.  This is going to be the toughest challenge I have ever done and I have been training for it since the start of the year.

I want to run my marathon (most likely the only one I ever do because it hurts... a lot) for a good cause.  Border Terrier Welfare is a charity very close to my heart.  I know the volunteers work tirelessly to help Borders that have fallen on hard times, usually through no fault of their own.  Circumstances occur and dogs need to find a new 'forever home', Border Terrier Welfare do their utmost to do this as quickly as possible trying to match suitable dogs to suitable people.

I fell in love with Border Terriers over 30 years ago and they have given me so much pleasure that I now want to give something to less fortunate dogs - a better chance at a better life.

I hope that you can support me to take on this tough challenge and help some lovely Border Terriers along the way.

About the charity

Started in November 1981 with two strays in Southampton, we now cover the UK, receiving some 250 referrals annually, with dedicated volunteers and no paid staff. A committee of 12 is elected annually at an October AGM. 10 of these are charity trustees, who meet 4 times a year to review progress and determine strategy. BTW receive invaluable support and assistance from 7 regional breed clubs, and from the more informal btposse, and borderfest groups, from whom fund raising challenges have emanated.
