Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
I was very lucky to win my running club, Farsley Flyers, club ballot place for London in October 2019 but due to covid it has been deferred twice. I did London virtual marathon plus a marathon on my birthday and hoping to get a better time at London. At 53, my body regularly suffers from aches and pains of old age and running overuse but I am very excited and determined!
We are fundraising for Yorkshire's Brain Tumour charity as Chris has a brain tumour, diagnosed aged 21 which causes him epilepsy. He is 45 now and has had 2 awake craniotomies (brain surgery where they wake you up during it for a couple of hours), chemotherapy and radiotherapy. He also had a stroke in 2018. There is still some tumour that cannot be removed so he has regular MRIs to check it is not growing again. Chris has left sided weakness and struggles with some processing of tasks but takes everything in his stride and loves running with Farsley Flyers. He is amazing and my hero!
This is a great charity not only for the support they give locally but also the hugely important research they do. Brain cancer is one of the most underfunded cancers. They are Leeds based.
So please donate and spur me. Running London marathon has been a dream of mine for so long, one which I never thought I would achieve.
