We help families find the strength to face everything cancer throws at them

Story

We're proud to be supporting Young lives vs Cancer who play such an important role in our community and hospitals by helping children, young people, and their families cope with Cancer.

Marketing and E-Commerce Manager, Matthew Rogers', partner works closely with the Young Lives vs Cancer team and she said, "The team at Young Lives Vs Cancer do an incredible job with supporting patients through the toughest time of their lives. Their charity provides our teenage patients and their families with unparalleled support, care, and advice. They are a truly valuable asset to have."

And, owners of Wessex Cleaning Equipment, Mark, Luke and Sarah Powell are also friends with one of the Young Lives vs Cancer team. They said, “We know that Clare works really hard to bring joy to the people that she interacts with. We know first-hand from her experiences and all of the great things she has to say about the charity that the Young Lives Vs Cancer team are the ones that we want to support".

Every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer and need the help of a dedicated team of professionals in many different ways. From Diagnosis, Young Lives Vs Cancer is there to guide, support, and care for the person and support the NHS Teenage Cancer Trust.

As a charity that is un-funded by the Government, they rely solely on donations to help children, young people and their families cope with Cancer. We will be there to support them, and together, you can help a child or Teenager who is fighting Cancer.

How Young Lives vs Cancer Help:

From the moment of diagnosis, their care teams provide day-to-day support for each child, young person and family, from information and guidance to clinical care and specialist play during treatment.

They arrange Young Lives vs Cancer grants and help young people and families get the benefits and other support they’re entitled to. They also help liaise with young people’s employers and sort out housing issues to keep families together, because day-to-day life doesn’t stop when you have cancer.

Their nursing teams can provide personal care and support at home, or arrange for treatment to be given closer to home. They also have Young Lives vs Cancer Homes from Home close to hospitals, where families can stay during treatment for free.

They work with schools on a child or young person’s behalf, helping them keep in touch with friends, organising work at home so they don’t fall behind and helping schools prepare for when a child goes back to school.

Their care teams provide bereavement support through home visits, local support groups and memory days. We do this to help children, young people and their families find a way to cope with the emotional pain.

They raise awareness of children and young people’s experiences and champion their voices to politicians and decision-makers across the UK to make the right change happen and ensure families get the right support from the government.

Please help us help them by donating.

Thank you,

Team Wessex.
