The aims of Hessilhead are to rescue, repair, rear and release orphaned and injured wildlife. Hessilhead deals with approximately 3000 wildlife casualties a year. Patients range from common garden birds, hedgehogs, foxes, swans and owls to the more unusual such as otters, deer, seals, peregrines and pine martens.

Story

In Easter 2014 my husband and I picked up a dog from the SSPCA whom we had agreed to foster while her owner was in hospital. Sadly her owners health took a turn for the worse and Skye's old family were unable to take her back. Skye stayed with us but we found her to be reactive, impulsive, destructive and all-round stressful to own.

Fast forward and after finally finding a training class that worked for her Skye is now my ever-reliable walking buddy. Skye is currently 10 years old and is very fit and healthy, I am desperate to treat her to a big adventure and the 96-mile West Highland Way fits the bill nicely.

We plan to leave Milngavie on the 7th of April and finish up in Fort William on the 14th.

Hessilhead Wildlife Rescue do a lot of great work for wildlife in Scotland and I'd love to further support them in their work. I love being able to watch the wide array of birds and animals that are native to our country but sometimes they need a helping hand.
