My next event is this amazing race I'm doing in August - La ultra - The High - the World's highest Ultramarathon - three times up and over 18,000 feet/5000m.

It's in Ladakh, Kashmir, India and is a road race - 333km/207 miles with a 72 hour time limit.

Average altitude of the race is 14,500 feet/4,400m so a massive challenge to body, mind and soul especially as I live about 1m above sea level!

I leave Sanday on July 31st and arrive in the main town Leh on August 2nd a full 14 days prior to the race.

This is to allow for some acclimatisation to take pace.  I will be doing a total of about 8 days trekking at various high altitudes to optimise acclimatisation.

Crewman Tim Rainey will be coming out on August 6th to assist me.

Once again I'm raising money for the cancer support charity CLAN.

"Project165,com:  My  aim is to have set 165 ultra distance records before my 65th birthday on October 1st 2018. Records will be at World, British and Scottish level, including age groups,  in officially recognised races.  The IAAF only recognises performances on road, track and indoor courses, so for this Project165.com I will not be including event records or treadmill records.

All races will have been officially endorsed by the International Association of Ultrarunners (IAU) and/or the National Athletic Federation of the host country.
