Story

We did it!!

So incredibly hot. We all got over the finish line in one piece. It was a lot tougher than we anticipated but a  great day.  William would be very proud of each and every one of us and find it all rather hilarious

Thank you for all your generous donations . Everyone has been so kind.

Angela, Kate, Stuart, Louisa, Andrew, Lily, Elfie, Hazel, Jess, Liz, Sarah and Jane  and not forgetting Ed our wonderful support crew.

London to Brighton Cycle Ride 2023…

Kate (William’s sister), Stuart (William’s uncle), Angela (William’s mum!) and our fabulous friends Louisa, Andrew, Elfie, Jess, Lily, Liz, Hazel, Sarah and Jane are all taking part. None of us are particularly fit , but we all loved William and want to do something to honour him.

It is nearly a year since he passed away and we miss him more than we ever imagined possible.

William’s story…..

William was diagnosed age 7 with an Ependymoma brain tumour.. He put up a good fight…..he had 2 surgeries, proton therapy in Oklahoma, stereotactic radiotherapy, numerous rounds of chemotherapy, eye surgery, tracheostomy, feeding tube, Botox to help his legs…….the list is endless.

We consulted Professor Grundy at the University of Nottingham  numerous times over the years, to discuss the possibility of clinical trials for William to participate in.    William was desperate to find a way forward with his treatment and knew that taking part in a trial could possibly help him and others too. Unfortunately this never happened.

When William passed away  on Monday 8 August 2022 at the age of 18, his brain was donated that day to Professor Grundy for research.  So at last William was helping others by the research that could be carried out on his b****y tumours.

We now want to raise funds to support Professor Grundy’s research into Ependymoma.

Thank you so much.

Angela and Kate
