Story

Hello,

A group of us have decided that we would like to participate in the Race to the Stones event an unforgettable 100km along Britain's oldest path. Its follow the footsteps of Vikings, Romans, dragons & Kings and is a journey from the Chilterns to the mystical North Wessex Downs past mighty iron age forts, ancient monuments and through some of Britain’s most stunning landscapes - A 5,000 year trek back in time.

The Xylem Watermark Warriors Group includes: Chelsea Henton, Samantha Marriott, Sarah Arnup, Simone Ballam, Samantha Downes, Matt Hall, Jane Ladenburger, Kevin Loughman, Colin Marriott, Melissa Marriott, Michelle O'Brien, Daniel Pratt, Wendy Skelton, Dean Smith, James Stephens, Annemarie Tait, Mark Wilson, Brian Wottrich, Karis Bradford and Charlie Cannon.

Route overview - The route passes up and along the high ground South West from Lewknor in Oxfordshire to the Thames crossing at Goring.
From this point the route rises up onto the North Wessex Downs passing golden fields before the iconic finish where you’ll walk between the towering stones of Avebury.

The History - The Ridgeway is recognised as the oldest path
in the UK. Along its length you will find traces of generations stretching back over 5,000 years. It is lined with Bronze Age hill forts, neolithic burial chambers and Roman river crossings, culminating in the largest neolithic stone circle in Europe.

We have decided to raise funds for one of Xylem's non profit partners - Mercy Corps who are a top development and humanitarian organization, who partner with Xylem in disaster relief and disaster risk reduction. Since the program was launched, Watermark and Mercy Corps have responded to 20 water-related disasters.

Thank you for taking the time to read and thank you in advance for supporting our cause.
