Story
We are the York Pedallers and we’re about to take on a five-day bike ride from York to Paris in aid of York Against Cancer.
We’ve already raised around £86,000 for YAC on two bike rides between Land’s End and John O Groats, but this year the charity celebrates its 30th birthday, so we have decided to go one better.
We depart from York Minster on May 18, cycle to Hull, take a North Sea ferry and get back into the saddle once the boat docks on the Continent.
The cycling distance is 370 miles and the sea crossing 232, totalling
602 miles, and we plan to mark our arrival at the Eiffel Tower with a
rousing rendition of ‘I could YAC 500 miles’, our take on the Proclaimers’ 500 miles.
We like to have a theme, and this one appealed to us because when you add in the miles from the sailing we will have done well over 500!
We want to raise at least £14,000 with the York to Paris ride, to take our total contribution to York Against Cancer to more than £100,000. Please give us what you can spare to help us on our way!
