Zoological Society Of London

We fund research and conservation projects to protect animals and habitats worldwide

Story

So we managed to get you this far....now all we need to do is convince you!

In celebration of the International Year of Biodiversity and to raise funds for the great work of the Zoological Society of London, staff members of ZSL will be running the British 10k fully clad as a real life food chain! Come and see a ravenous giant anteater chasing after a column of eager ants, who are pursuing luscious leaves being “blown” around some of London’s famous hot spots. The great food chase race will be setting off from Hyde Park Corner at 9:30am on Sunday 11th July. Please come along and cheer us on!

On a more serious note, biodiversity is declining rapidly due to factors such as land use change, climate change, invasive species, overexploitation, and pollution.  Human actions are contributing to irreversible losses in terms of the diversity of life on Earth. Changes in biodiversity have been more rapid in the past 50 years than at any time in human history and are expected to continue at the same pace or even to accelerate.

The International Year of Biodiversity is a unique opportunity to increase understanding of the vital role that biodiversity plays in sustaining life on Earth. This is vital for current and future human wellbeing.

Our aim of this run (anteater waddle!) is to highlight ZSL’s hard work to conserve biodiversity. We have scientists studying extinction rates, the impact of invasive species, biodiversity hotspots and the impact of biodiversity loss on ecosystem services amongst many other related projects.  ZSL seeks a diverse and healthy natural world and aims to motivate others to take conservation action seriously within their daily lives.

Hope thats some convincing! Please sponsor us!!
