Global Villiage Build in Compana Romania for Habitats for Humanity · 5 August 2016

We believe decent homes are the heartbeat of strong communities and so we also fight for land rights for women, upgrade urban slums and informal settlements, improve access to water and sanitation, and help communities become more resilient in the face of natural disasters.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The Power of Home

Home is the cornerstone of hope for those living in poverty.
Habitat for Humanity helps the poorest and most vulnerable people lift themselves out of poverty by partnering with them to build their homes and communities.

The ultimate goal of Habitat for Humanity is to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness by building adequate and affordable housing. The organisation also seeks to put shelter in the hearts and
minds of people in such a powerful way that poverty housing becomes socially, politically and religiously unacceptable anywhere in the world.

My role

I am travelling to Cumpana in the Constanta county of Romania with my firm Addleshaw Goddard to provide direct support on the ground to ongoing projects. I will be laying bricks for a home, digging pit latrines for a water and sanitation project, retrofitting existing buildings to make them more energy efficient and much more... wish me luck! I aim to post regular pictures and updates of my progress so you can see how far your money has gone and how much of a difference you can help make.

The money I raise will go DIRECTLY to the charity. I, nor my firm, benefits from this at all. My firm will sponsor me separately to make the trip to Romania and make a difference to a place that needs it the most.

Your role

In order for me to raise the £600 for Habitat for Humanity I aim to organise many fundraising events. My first fundraising activity is climbing the Yorkshire Peaks! (Yes, straight in the deep end!). I intend to do this on Saturday 21 May, with the climb taking on average of 11 hours! My profile picture was taken after I climbed 1 peak, Pen-Y-Ghent, now I will be attempting all 3! God help my legs the next day! I will be posting updates and pictures of my progress and kindly request donations for my climb. Your money will make a huge difference to people around the world living in extreme poverty.

Any questions please ask! Thank you for reading.
