Following in Arthur's footsteps · 27 May 2021

Noah's Ark Children's Hospice provides care and support for babies, children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, and their families, in North and Central London and Hertsmere. Help us create moments that matter for the children and families we support.

Story

I will be walking a route that Arthur made in his short life. I will walk from my house to Arthur's mummy and daddy's house to Barnet hospital to Noah's Ark, back to Arthur's, to the allotment, the Black horse pub, back to Arthur's and his mummy's and daddy's house and then sadly back to Noah's Ark, then home. Approx 17 miles.

I will be doing my walk on Fri 25th June.

I miss the little man but I am so pleased that Arthur had the best mummy and daddy ever.

Below are words from Arthur's parents:

Barclay and I wanted to celebrate Arthur's first Birthday on 12th June and we couldn't think of a better way than to get all our friends and family involved in a fundraiser for Noah's Ark Children's Hospice. What you can do?: Please Run for Arthur. Set yourself a goal - 5k, 10k, a 10 mile walk or a full marathon - whatever suits you... Then create a JustGiving team page (click Join Team on the top right of this page). Then get fundraising!! No matter where you are in the world you can get stuck in. We will all Run for Arthur on 12th June 2021, to remember him, celebrate his life and to support other families like ours. Not a fitness fan?: Something we can all do is help support Noah's Ark with a donation. Please give as much as you can afford, gift aid it and encourage those you know to give too. Thank you. About Arthur Bear: As many of you know, I have worked for Noah's Ark for a number of years and love what the charity does to support seriously unwell babies, children and young people as well as their families.I never thought we would be one of those families. On 12th June 2020, our beautiful baby Arthur was born. Arthur presented as a healthy baby, but after a few hours he had some very serious seizures. After much investigation Arthur was diagnosed with Alexander Disease. He was given up to two years to live. Sadly, Arthur had the most rare, and most aggressive form of the condition with his symptoms presenting as a neonate. This means he became poorly rather quickly and passed away when he was just three months old. Arthur was such a little dude. He was a massive spurs fan, he loved the Black Horse pub in Barnet and harvesting cucumbers at our allotment. Noah's Ark gave us so much. Due to visiting restrictions, our family were unable to meet Arthur for the six weeks we spent in hospital  - but at The Ark he met many of those who loved him for the first time. We will never be able to thank them enough.
