Story

I run when I feel good, I run when I feel bad. I’ve run on the happiest days of my life - my wedding day, and some of the saddest days of my life - finding out the news about Scott.

Ultimately why I run is two reasons, the first one is that simply it makes me feel better, when life is tough, or stressful it gives me clarity, lightness and as the lungs burn more I can honestly feel the weight of the world lift of my shoulders just that little bit.

The second, is I love that it is a literal representation of tiny changes, if you get up every day and put one foot in front of the other, you will get somewhere, literally and figuratively. The first run I ever did was 2km, 6 years later I am about to try and run 100km. Years and years of tiny changes can make big differences.

So on the 7th of August, I’m gonna take a lot of tiny steps, one after another, for AGES! I’m taking part in a 100km (IN ONE GO!) race from London to Canterbury, on the 7th of August and because I’m doing this for ‘me’ and because of how important running is to my own mental health I want to pass that goodness on, so I’m going to try and raise a little bit of money for Tiny Changes, the charity set up in memory of one of the most inspirational people I’ve ever met, Scott Hutchison.

So If you’ve ever struggled, if you know someone who has, or if you are just intrigued to see if I fail or succeed, and if you have the privilege to be able to, then put a couple of pounds in the pot.

Scott was open and honest about mental health and inspired more people than I think he would ever know and Tiny Changes was set up as his legacy. With a simple and bold vision: to make young minds feel better.

Scott inspired me to be who I am today. Running makes my mind feel better. So, You can mark my words. I’ll run 100kms and together we’ll make Tiny Changes.
