Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

As I hurtle towards my 50th birthday I am doing this challenge to move myself forward -literally! My beautiful son Timmy had intractable epilepsy which was transformed by the ketogenic diet, giving him the best years of his life. It is an amazingly powerful treatment for drug resistant epilepsy, but can be tricky at times, and that’s where the charity Matthews Friends is so wonderful. It supports families in very many ways, and helped me immeasurably when Timmy was on the diet.

When Timmy later developed an unrelated illness and subsequently died I wanted to do something to honour his memory, and what better than to support a charity who did so much to give Timmy a much better childhood than would otherwise have been possible.

This challenge will not be an easy one for me. I have become increasingly unfit since the boy stopped dragging me out on long walks, and I will have to train hard. Grief is making me want to curl up in a corner, so please sponsor me to urge me on to do this! All donations will encourage me onwards, and help other families in the future.

Thankyou in advance. Alison
