Kent Association for the Blind supports Sight Impaired people to live Independent Lives - everyone should be able to live a Fulfilled, Healthy, Safe Life and achieve their own Personal Goals. Imagine if you couldn’t see. How would you feel? What do you think your life would be like? Sight is the sense that people fear losing the most but the reality is that more and more people are affected by sight loss each year. Would you know where to turn for help?
KAB is a charity supporting visually impaired people and those with dual sensory loss. Their clients are people of all ages, from a variety of backgrounds and they tailor their service to suit their needs. Their dedicated team of staff offer a range of training to those with sight loss as well as their families, to enable them to live independent lives. Their Eye clinic liaison officers are there right at the point of diagnosis to support people at what can be a very daunting and emotional time; and they continue to be there for as long as people need them.
Some might need to learn techniques to get around safely and confidently outdoors. For others, it might be using talking scales, knife guides, liquid level indicators in the kitchen to prepare food for themselves and their children. Training is offered so that sight impaired people can maximise the benefits of technology to access information, communicate and mobilise independently at home, at school and in the workplace.
Much of their work can only continue thanks to donations and fundraising . The money I raise will make a real difference to the lives of visually impaired people.
Thank you for your support.
