So you know that on my 21st I raised £2000 for Mind which helped saved my friends life. Since then that peraon has gone through to the deepest layers of the worst hell. But coming back.
The charity I've chosen for my 25th birthday is the Lewis Project. This project means more to me than anything i have every come across. It is set up by a mum who lost her son to mental health. Where the systmn failed him. She's provided a space where young adults come and play music and perform gigs. It's a space not made to give medication , to give theropy but to motivate people to live again to follow their dreams. It's not set up to cure mentel health. But that's what it is doing. EXACTY that. It's not a drug, it's not a theropy it's not a docter but it's a charity that is making probally the biggest impact I've come across.
To my knowledge this is the only charity like it anywhere in the world. For thoose suffering from mental illness to do what they love. To give not give them drugs or theropy. And that I think is the best recovery and gives the best chance of recovery. Give people back something that has been taken away from them froom mental health and enable them to do what they love. To not hide. And I think that is one of the best things in the world I've come across.
Its grown so much they currently do not have anough space or instruments. And this money will go, every single penny to that. Not to a big charity where the money goes to staff etc. To.exactly.that.
This charity means more to me than u can ever put into words. Its has helped my friend through the toughest times that 10 years in the mental health systmn has not done. Recover. And you can not put a price tag on.
I reveived £2000 in a month when I climed Kilimanjaro for my 21st. Let's beat that. In return I'm not just going to do one mountain. Not only am I climbing Everest but tommrow I start my Trek for the Tour de Mt blanc and then the Atlas mountains.
Zoe and lewis this is for you. The systmn may have failed you but I promise I'm going to do everything In my power to change this and help as many people as possible. Nobody should have to fight their illness but all the systmn to get better.
Yea I'm doing a typical me, find something hard and make it harder. Everest is hard but not hard anough. Bring it on.
