Story
For my EPQ project, I have decided to do something that is very close and important to me by holding a charity masquerade ball for ages 16 to 18 in memory of my mother, Rumina Tejani.
Macmillan is an amazing charity that helps provide support for people suffering with cancer as well as their families from the start to the very end.
To be honest, I never understood how much cancer and its treatments affects people’s lives until three years ago when my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. Sadly, as many of you may know, my mum lost her battle with cancer last year but she spent every day fighting to be with us and I could not be more proud of her. During the course of her treatment, I was grateful for my intense and big family! However, up to a quarter of people face cancer without support from family and friends. There are even several children who watch their parents suffer through this without the support of siblings or another parent.
That's when Macmillan steps in. They provide nurses to help patients through treatment, volunteers to help patients with everyday tasks and financial support. As well as offering an invaluable online community to provide support whenever is needed. Even when the cancer is gone, they help people get back on their feet.
Please help me to support Macmillan so they can support so many others. No one should face cancer alone.
