Story
I know it is backward asking for sponsorship after an event however, I wasn't totally sure on what I had signed myself up to and it really was one of those 'me and my big mouth' scenarios. I didn't feel it right asking for sponsorship up front as I could not quantify the enormity of the challenge or my ability to complete any significant amount of it.... especially with little to no training.
The challenge itself was to climb Pen y Fan, the highest mountain in Southwales; not once, but ten times. More info can be found by clicking the following link; http://www.ten-y-fan.org/the-challenge
My naivety was all but clear come climb #1 and my first ever encounter of Pen y Fan; I remember thinking to myself 'what the hell were you thinking' and 'thank goodness that I didn't go after sponsorship as there is no way I am going to be able to climb this TEN times.
Shear grit, determination and digging deeper than I have ever before, resulted in me completing the challenge; I returned to the bottom of Pen y Fan on Sunday 14th May 2017 at 15:51, 23hrs41mins after starting out on Saturday 13th May 2017 at 16:10.
I did it and am baffled as to how, with little to no training but can now proudly ask for some support and sponsorship for a charity that continues to work hard and cure the disease that has affected everyone in one way or another; also to mention that the event 'Ten y Fan' was started to help a little boy suffering from cancer.
Please donate a couple of quid if you can - I'd be happy to post a picture of my blisters or a video of my inability to climb the stairs if it helps!
Thanks for all the support and kind messages received. XXX
