Two years ago we adopted our amazing boys Jayden and Alex and during the adoption process we were told that Jayden had a hole in his heart that would need repairing around the age of 5. Tuesday we visited Glenfield Hospital for the first time for a variety of tests. After the tests we were told that the hole in his heart is large and keyhole surgery wouldn’t be an option. This means he will need open heart surgery in a couple of months. This requires up to 3 days in intensive care and then up to 7 days on the children’s ward. 

The Congenial Heart Centre is supported by two charities, Heart Link and KeepTheBeat, both of which support the children and their families. It is thanks to these charities that parents are able to stay in the accommodation at the hospital with their children. 

I’m certain that any parent would feel extremely grateful that they can be with their child during the recovery period, so I would like to raise some money towards this great cause.
