London Marathon 2023 · 23 April 2023 ·

Our Haven House heroes are running the TCS London Marathon on Sunday 23 April to raise funds to support seriously ill children and their families.

Story

I was contacted a few weeks ago by Haven House to enquire if I would be interested in taking up a fundraising place for them in the London Marathon because a member of their team had dropped out due to injury. I jumped at the chance because Haven House Children's Hospice is such an amazing charity and I knew how important it would be to fundraise for them. I also had very fond memories of running the marathon once before.

So here we are... almost 6 weeks into training and let's be honest, the initial excitement has basically turned into pain, blisters, and not a small amount of fear 🙈 It turns out that 18 years and 3 children since the last marathon have definitely not helped matters! Anyway, I have managed to pound the streets and forest paths of Loughton and turn my standard 30 min run into one of just over 3 hours. Still a LONG way to go.... but although it's going to be a challenge, I'll do everything I can to cross the finish line on Sunday 23rd April. All I need now is the help of my lovely family, friends, colleagues, and those kind enough, to donate money to our local and incredible Children's Hospice.

Haven House Children's Hospice is a very special place. From providing respite services and physio and music therapy, to supporting families through end of life care and providing counselling services, they aim to look after the whole family. Having a child with a life-threatening or life-limiting illness will inevitably bring a number of challenges, but offering all these support services mean that families can spend time making memories. I know it will be difficult, but its nothing compared to what many of these families go through. Every pound you donate, and every mile I pound on the streets of London, will help hundreds of local children and their families. Thank you so much for making this possible.
