Story

Hello, I am Abby (Moon) Jakl. My husband Brian and I are putting a team together to run the Philly Tough Mudder on Saturday May 22, 2021 in memory of my brother Aaron Billy Moon. Aaron was my brother, companion, protector, and most importantly my friend.

Brian and I will be participating in the Philly Tough Mudder to raise money to continue to fund a charity established in Aarons memory. The 8-10 mile race, with 25 obstacles, requires teamwork to complete. Aaron definitely would have loved this race, being part of a team, getting all muddy, and using his big strong muscles to help others get to the finish line!

Before his December 2, 2006 death, Aaron worked at St. Lukes Hospital, Allentown Campus, in the Operating Room. He had dreams of becoming a nurse one day.

Following his death friends and family created the Aaron Billy Moon Memorial Fund (ABMMF). The fund was created to award scholarships to students at the St. Lukes School of Nursing in Bethlehem, PA. The fund has provided 20 scholarships, to nursing students in need over the past 14 years.

Just a bit about Aaron: Two memories of Aaron that others share over and over are his
crazy sense of humor and his innate ability to pull people together. If you had the pleasure of knowing Aaron, you would have had many, many opportunities to enjoy his ability to make any situation ridiculously funny, and you would have experienced his persistence in bringing people together. I think togetherness is something we all need more of in this world of a pandemic, differing political views, racism, and just plain old differences.

One thing I know for certain about Aaron is that he was not afraid of differences; he actually welcomed them and in his special way was able to make light of differences. Time and time again my heart is so warmed by hearing stories about how Aaron made others feel welcomed by inviting them into his large circle of friends.

Please help to keep Aarons memory alive, and help continue funding nursing scholarships for those in need through the ABMMF. It is a perfect time to pledge your support and contribute to help provide financial assistance to future heroes.
