Hello everyone!
Thanks for taking the time to visit my just giving page. The North Street Day Service is a specialist day centre for adults with autism and asperger's syndrome. As a music therapy student I am gradually bringing music into the centre. I NEED YOUR HELP to raise money to buy some much needed instruments. Music is important and special to everybody, where would we be without it? Research has shown that somebody with autism can be very responsive to music. Someone with autism may have difficulites in communicating, social interaction and have a lack of imagination. This is known as the 'triad of impairments.' Music takes away the need to use words and becomes a communication tool in itself. Music can also help to improve social skills and give someone the sense of belonging to a group. Above all, making music is FUN!!
Running a half marathon is a mammoth challenge for me. For those of you who don't know me as well my fitness levels are normally zilch. When i started training for this about 2 months ago I couldn't even run 20 minutes without feeling a tiny bit ill! I am gradually improving and hope I will be ready for September 5th in Bristol. So please please dig deep in your pockets and donate anything you can. I can promise you that the money will go to an excellent cause and the instruments will be appreciated by all those who are lucky enough to play them!
Thank you! Happy donating, Abby :)xx
