Story
Assalamualykum,
I would like to start by thanking everyone who donated to the September deployment - because of your generosity and giving hearts we were able to provide shelter, food and sustainable jobs to hundreds of Syrian/Palestinian/Lebanese families!,May Allah swt bless you for your efforts. Visiting the camps, witnessing the trauma that these poor families have had to live with, listening to their stories, it is something that I can never forget. It was overwhelming, draining, emotional but a soul-searching experience I needed.
However it doesn’t stop here. Our team were able to set the refugees up with aid for the next few months, but the main hardships will begin in the harsh winter season.
When we think of winter, we imagine cosy homes, hot drinks, and comfortable clothing, but that is a far cry from the harsh reality faced by millions of people every year. The bitter truth is that people, in much of the world, are ill-equipped and unprepared to face the unrelenting cold of the winter season.
A lack of adequate clothing and fuel for heaters is leaving people desperate for warmth. Mothers are forced to make decisions that none of us should ever have to make: to buy food to feed their children or buy fuel to keep them warm enough to survive the extreme winters. With dangerous sources of warmth, including fires created by burning plastic, children are more vulnerable to illnesses like hypothermia, which could ultimately lead to death.
This is why I am working with Salam charity, going back to the Syrian border in January 2022 to provide winter survival kits, heaters, fuel etc to the Syrian and Palestinian refugees, they need us now more than ever.
When Allah swt blesses you financially, don’t increase your standard of living, increase your standard of giving.
Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) said “do not withhold your money, for if you did so, Allah would withhold his blessings from you.”
"Those who in charity spend of their goods by night and by day, in secret and in public, have their reward with their Lord: on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve" (2:274).
Let’s make a difference, let’s be the answer to somebody’s dua.
