Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
The focus of ‘Aida-Aberdour: Building Bridges’ is to
develop community connections and cross cultural understanding between two very different parts of the world: Aberdour, Fife and the Aida Refugee Camp in Bethlehem.
More information on the project can be found at our website: https://www.aida-aberdour.org/building-bridges
We are doing this through building skills and confidence in
young people in both communities and supporting fundraising for the Alrowwad Arts and Cultural Centre in the Camp.
The particular target for this fundraising campaign is to support the purchase of IT equipment for the technological floor of the new Alrowwad Vocational Training Centre which is in the heart of Aida Refugee Camp.
This equipment will be used by many students and will play an important role in developing the skills of young people in the Camp and improving their employment prospects.
Background:
In 2016 the Alrowwad Arts and Cultural Centre from Aida refugee camp, Bethlehem performed at Edinburgh Festival. The students and their teachers were hosted by people living in Aberdour and took part in a range of community supported activities. The Aberdour visit was co-ordinated by village resident Katie Brown with support from The Amos Trust.
Since then Alrowwad Director, Dr Abdelfattah Abrusour, has been back to Aberdour in December 2017 to launch Bethlehem: Beautiful Resistance Recipes and the Building Bridges partnership.
There is now an ongoing connection between families
and friends in both places. Building Bridges aims to grow these connections.
