3 Peak Alpine Challenge · 6 October 2021 to 10 October 2021 ·
Every day we make decisions in the way we push ourselves. I might ski a slope that will challenge me, or more mundanely, carry out an everyday activity that I believe I can do better or faster. We take risks and sometimes that risk or decision doesn't work out. In a split second, a person’s life and the lives of their family and friends can dramatically change. My long-time friend, Rob, has been living with paralysis since 2002, when his car was knocked off the road as he overtook a van.
Each year Rob invites me to a fundraising event for Spinal Research (www.spinal-research.org) where amazing people living with a spinal injury tell me about the incredible advancements being made from medical research. These advancements enhance lives and provide further hope to people living with the devastating effects of paralysis.
In October I'm taking on a challenge with three friends, to walk 3 Alpine peaks, in 3 countries, in 3 days, to raise vital funds for Spinal Research. It will be tough, at altitudes over twice as high as Ben Nevis. I've covered all costs, but your financial support to raise additional funds for the charity would be fantastic. Every penny raised will make a difference, so please consider donating.
Spinal Research is the UK’s leading charity funding medical research around the world to develop effective treatments for paralysis caused by spinal cord injury. Every year 1,000 people in the UK and Ireland are paralysed following an injury to their spinal cord. The charity receives no government funding and rely entirely on the support of the public to raise funds for research. Through supporters’ efforts, innovative medical research has been funded, achieving a number of ground breaking changes in the field.
