I really don't need another knitted blanket in my life but I really, really wanted to make this pattern. So I have decided to use it to do something lovely, and raffle it for my chosen charity of Families and Babies.
They supported me through learning to feed my eldest son Lars when we faced multiple challenges when it came to breastfeeding. With their help we mastered combination feeding and then managed to move to almost exclusive breastfeeding. Then when our daughter Tali arrived they were there again to offer support and reassurance that we were doing OK. They were the first baby group I attended and made me see I could leave the house on my own with a newborn and that there were plenty of other mum's out there going through the exact same experience and challenges that I was.
Although our feeding journey has come to an end for both kiddos I remain part of the network through their Facebook page offering shared experiences and reassurance to other mum's that they will get through it, just as the group did for me.
So this raffle is my way of saying thank you from me, and my babies.
I have decided that its £2 a ticket, you are welcome to buy more than one. Because its a raffle you won't be able to add on Giftaid. I'm new to all this, so I will do it the old fashioned way of names in a hat once the raffle expires. So when you donate make sure I can see some form of contact detail for you so I can let you know if you are the lucky winner.
The page will be open for donations until 31st August 2020.
I have spent the last 6 months making the blanket, I have knitted every square, hand sewn it together and crocheted the border. at around 170,000 stitches this is a work of love and care. The full details of the project can be found on my Ravelry page here:

The pattern is a replica of the blanket Ron Weasley has in the Harry Potter series, made by his mummy Molly Weasley. The ethos of the blanket is that it is made from her stash of left over yarns and that is something I tried to emulate with my version. Although I did have to use some new yarn in there too to match some of the colours. The pattern is available for free here if you wanted to make one:
