London Marathon for Crohns & Colitis UK

London Marathon 2023 · 23 April 2023 ·
Hello and thank you for visiting my page!
In April 2023 I will be running the TCS London Marathon for my Mum, who was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis (UC) shortly after I was born and in support of Crohn's & Colitis UK, the country's leading charity for Crohn's and Colitis.
For those who are unfamiliar with the conditions, both are inflammatory bowel diseases causing chronic inflammation of the digestive tract, that can result in debilitating symptoms, pain, shame and can often result in the patient having life-changing surgery.
In 1997 my Mum underwent incredibly invasive and complicated surgery to combat the UC. The surgery involved removing the entirety of her large intestine. Although the surgery was a success, ever since recovering Mum has had to endure ongoing and life-impacting issues such as anemia (a condition that makes you weak and unwell) toilet-frequency issues and food/drink-related reactions.
The above is only a snippet of what Mum endures on a weekly basis. Therefore, I'm using the marathon as a way to demonstrate to her how proud I am of her bravery, how grateful I am for her time and love even when dealing with her own health issues and lastly, her tenacity to live her life as uninterrupted as possible, by whatever has been thrown her way. You're a gutsy and gritty inspiration Mum, and this one's for you.
I would hugely appreciate any donation you can spare for this amazing cause. The fundraising will help Crohn's & Colitis UK on their mission to improve diagnosis and treatment, further fund research, raise awareness and help to destigmatise these conditions. Conditions that the effects of, I've witnessed first-hand, can hold on someone's life.
Thank you again for your time and any donations you are able to offer.
