Winnie D'Arcy · 18 January 2023 ·
I am participating in the Lloyd's of London Charity Abseil on the 27th June to help raise money towards the fundraising campaign for this lovely family and their little girl Winnie who’s diagnosed with Brittle Bone Disease, Von Willebrands and Autism.
Winnie is a full time wheelchair user who needs assistance with all her mobility and currently requires full time care which can only be provided by someone with specialist knowledge of her needs. At just 7 years old she has already had several operations to improve her physical health and strengthen her bones including four to insert rods into her legs in the hope that one day she will be able to stand independently.
Winnie is due to have her eighth operation this year to help improve the strength of her bones. All funds go towards, therapies following her procedures including hydrotherapy and physiotherapy. The family continue to improve and adapt the family home to suit Winnie’s ongoing care needs. The family have also been working hard to create an accessible, safe and comfortable outdoor space for Winnie to use for fun, built to suit her needs and provide the whole family with respite during recovery periods.
You can read more about Winnie, the challenges she and her family face and her progress on the Tree of Hope website (https://www.treeofhope.org.uk/ways-to-give/childrens-campaigns/winnie-darcy/) and on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/wishforwinnie)
Donations will be handled by The Tree of Hope. The Tree of Hope are a charity who support families with sick children and oversee all their expenditure. Rest assure, all of the money raised goes towards Winnie and her needs. The Tree of Hope give transparency for expenditure for the donator and the family.
I would be really grateful to anyone who would like to contribute towards the target, no matter what the size. Lloyd's will also very kindly match the amount up to £1,500 to enable your support to go even further.
Many thanks
Matt
