Lake District Mighty Hike 2023 - full marathon · 17 June 2023 ·
Last year it was the Great Ormond Street Charity Tattoo competition - the result? I now have a tattoo of a 6 year old's Yoda drawing on my neck for all eternity, AND, you all raised over £1,000 for charity. Amazing!
This year the charity is one that almost all of us come into contact with at some point, whether that be as a cancer patient or a friend or family member. What an incredible job Macmillan Cancer Support does, and they do it at that critical point where we need them most. Without this charity and the wonderful people who deliver the service, the extremely difficult moments when our lives are affected by cancer would be so much more dark and difficult.
My fantastic wife and our friends, Wendy and Mark, are going to take part in an organised marathon-length hike across the Lake District. Honestly, this will be a great experience and whilst it will be fairly challenging, I am in no way pretending that this is some sort of incredible physical feat we will be achieving for the charity. But, look at it this way - our hike, which we will promote and discuss plenty, will be a great focus and reason to reflect on the magnificent work of this charity, and to do a really positive thing and donate to the cause.
If it helps, I am happy to do some side challenges that you may suggest in the build up to the hike in exchange for a cheeky extra donation...
Thank you in advance of your support. I am sure you will agree that this charity is just one of those fundamentals in our lives that we need to continue to support to deliver their incredibly important work in supporting us in our hours of need, as they have done in the past, as they do right now for many, and as they will continue to do in the future.
Much love,
Gareth M
