Art Kits for the Homeless during Covid 19 · 1 April 2020

Accumulate uses creativity to enrich and elevate the lives of young people that are homeless and living in hostels and temporary accommodation. The Accumulate participants often come from difficult, complicated and diverse backgrounds, including abusive relationships, mental health and substance abuse, foster care and prison backgrounds. Through Accumulate they become engaged in something personally rewarding and meaningful, develop their self-esteem and sense of self worth and start to have the ambition to think and plan for a more positive future, whatever that may be. We also fundraise for scholarships so that they can progress their creative education at university - this is life-changing. So far, 15 people have received Accumulate scholarships and five of these have gone on to study on an undergraduate degree. None of this would have been possible without Accumulate.

Story

“I’ve been homeless around 2 years and Accumulate has been a godsend. It gives me a creative outlet, an opportunity to learn new things, and has even inspired me to apply for university next year. I can’t thank them enough.” Accumulate uses creativity to help young homeless people overcome challenges, build skills and increase their wellbeing and confidence. The Accumulate workshops give a sense of purpose, a community and a place to go and the participants gain the drive and ability to create a more positive future and life for themselves.
