Hand in Hand is passionate about giving children born in poverty a hope for the future. Our ultimate aim is for each child's life to be transformed and the cycle of poverty to be broken.

Story

Namrata Shah Childrens home is managed by the Thika Diocese of the Anglican Church of Kenya, and is home to 34 orphaned or abandoned children.

Hand in Hand has supported this children's home at Namrata Shah for several years now through painting and decorating rooms and running activity days for the children during team visits. It has also raised funds to provide a pump and a tank for the borehole so that the home does not have to entirely rely on expensive mains water. We are also providing a water harvesting system that collects rain water from the orphanage roof for watering their shamba.  Later in 2008 we plan to plant 3 acre's of their land with Jatropha, bio-fuel trees which have the potential of providing them with a steady income for the home within three years of planting and which will then last for around 40 years
