Story
On Sunday 22nd April I will be running the 2018 Virgin London Marathon. This run is not only going to be a personal and physical challenge especially being my first full marathon, but I also hope to raise some much needed money for a very worthwhile cause.
I will be running to raise money for World Cancer Research Fund, a charity very close to my heart. As many of you will know, my father Paul, was recently diagnosed with a rare and acute form of liver cancer - out of nowhere. He has had an extremely tough year and has been forced to accept drastic lifestyle changes, including a life changing liver transplant - which we are so grateful he was able to receive. The treatment and care he has received to date has been fantastic. The detailed testing that he has undergone to pinpoint the exact type of Cancer and its severity has been incredible - all of this has been made possible from the research and developments that the World Cancer Research Fund have both made & supported.
Cancer is a world problem, which has affected us all in some form. The World Cancer Research Fund aim to champion the latest and most authoritative scientific research from around the world on cancer prevention and survival, to help people reduce their risk of cancer. In order to continue their vital work in aiming to conquer cancer, The World Cancer Research Fund need our support through donations. I would really appreciate it if you could take 5 minutes out of your day to give any donation you can, large or small to such a fantastic cause.
Any donation you can give would not only mean a lot to me, but also my family and others facing a similar challenge throughout this difficult time - Knowing I have raised money for this fantastic charity which has supported my own father since his diagnosis will give me the inspiration and determination to keep on running, so please give what you can.
Thank you,
Alex
