Story
This year, ACRE Capital have chosen to support charities working to help and support those most impacted by the pandemic. Following on from our On The Doorstep Competition, we will be running the Cambridge Half Marathon on Sunday 17th October in aid of The Charlie Waller Memorial Trust.
Many people are concerned about the impact of lockdown and societal disruption on mental health particularly for the elderly and vulnerable people. Children and young adults may not be facing the physical effects of the pandemic in the same way but there are increasing concerns about the long-term emotional and psychological impacts including health, wellbeing, brain development and life skills.
The Charlie Waller Memorial Trust educates children and young adults, and those with responsibility for them - including parents, teachers, employers, GPs and Practice Nurses - about their mental health and wellbeing. By opening up conversations about depression and spotting signs in yourself and others, the charity is working hard to help ensure young people are equipped to maintain and enhance their mental health, and have the confidence to seek help when they need it.
