Campaign by UNICEF Ireland (RCN 20008727)
Hurricane Irma: One of the most powerful storms ever recorded in the Atlantic is placing thousands of children in danger. Please donate today and help provide lifesaving supplies to children.

Story

Hurricane Irma, was the strongest storm on record to impact the Leeward Islands, with 165-knot winds it left behind a trail of destruction. Digicel provide vital communication on these islands, with the majority of infrastructure having been damaged or destroyed there is a focus on quickly restoring these services, as they are essential to the recovery effort, This is a huge task and one that Actavo has stepped up to help with, we have seen over 30,Cablers, HFC Technicians and GSM Technicians from the region come forward to Volunteer their assistance, they are currently at the on standby and awaiting Digicel’s instruction. Actavo has also been able to provide plant, tools and equipment which are currently on route to the affected areas.

The storm has claimed at least 28 people as it crossed the region, devastating housing, power and water supplies. The initial damage estimated for these Islands is expected to be in the billions of dollars and, with the region tourist-dependent, it could take years to recover.

Actavo has launched a donations appeal, with all funds going to Unicef who are already on the ground. Children in the Caribbean urgently need essential supplies like clean water to stop the spread of deadly diseases and prevent loss of lives. Unicef are responding to rapidly to deliver water purification tablets, hygiene kits, life-saving food, medicine and tents for families whose homes have been destroyed.

Your donation will go directly to help children and families in the Caribbean affected by Hurricane Irma. By fundraising today, you can help us save children’s lives
