Proud to Run Chicago · 29 June 2019 ·

Proud to Run Chicago is an annual race held during Pride Weekend that raises money for LGBTQ+ non-profits. We are staffed entirely by volunteers and 100% of the net proceeds go to our beneficiaries. To date, Proud to Run has raised $600,000+ for organizations that serve the LGBTQ+ community.

Story

UPDATE: I've met my initial goal of $250. If you help me get to $500, I'll up my run from a 5k to a 10k!

Since moving to Chicago, I've been looking for more ways to get involved in the community and support queer initiatives all around me.

Proud to Run is one such initiative. I'm running the 5k to raise money for the 2019 beneficiaries, which include a queer theater, a housing program for the elderly, a transgender awareness campaign, and the LGBT Chamber of Commerce of Illinois. You can learn more about the beneficiaries here: http://frontrunnerschicago.com/proud-to-run-chicago/#beneficiaries

On a more personal note, fitness and wellness have been an important tool for me to overcome challenges with depression and anxiety. I'm glad that I can use these tools for self love to benefit others, as well.
