The Charity
For more than
thirty years the Chernobyl Children's Lifeline has carried out a recuperation
programme to bring children from Belarus to stay with British families for a
month. The charity helps children living in
Belarus and Northern Ukraine who still suffer the effects of low level
radiation from the nuclear accident at Chernobyl in 1986. Children are still suffering, even
those born long after the accident. Their immune systems are often been
compromised leading to extreme susceptibility to various types of cancers, flu
and colds, persistent headaches, dizziness and sore throats. We bring children here to stay with Host
Families, enjoying un-contaminated food and fresh air. By providing the
Children with respite from there usual living conditions this enables their
immune systems to recover and strengthen.
We raise funds
to pay for flights, visas, clothing, trips, transport and so on. There
are many children waiting for a chance to come for respite, so you can see how
important your support is!

other within 24 hours! The challenge encompasses 26 miles (42km) total
