Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my just giving page. As many of you are aware I am running from Manchester to Liverpool on Good Friday a distance of 50 miles the furthest I have ever ran.

For Information regarding the Orthopaedic Institute & the cause I am running for please read below.

The Orthopaedic Institute Ltd are a small independent registered charity
who, for over 50 years, have proudly supported the specialist research centres
at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, Oswestry.

Our world-renowned research covers the advancement of care of conditions
of childhood including cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy, arthritis and
rheumatism, joint replacement and cellular techniques for repair and
healing.

This has only been possible due to donations from patients and grants
from organisations and charitable trusts, for which we are extremely grateful.

I am raising funds to support research into the rare childhood
disease, ‘Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease (CMT)’
 The Orthopaedic Institute Charity
need to raise £48,000 to help future sufferers lead a full and pain free life.

CMT is hereditary and affects the motor and sensory
peripheral nerves connecting the brain and spinal cord to the rest of the
body.  It causes the nerves to become
damaged and die leading to weakness and muscle wasting below the knees and in the
hands.

Severe numbness means patients can be injured without knowing
it ie: bashing feet or burning hands.
Symptoms usually appear in the first 10 years of life, although they can
appear later.

Although CMT is usually inherited, it has been found in some
individuals with healthy

parents, representing a new mutation.

Currently
no treatment is available.

Please help
me to raise funds to complete the research into this debilitating childhood
disease. Thank you.
