Story
Hi there,
Back in April 2016 at the age of 36 I was diagnosed with an early form of Bowel (rectal) Cancer. A course of treatments including 18 months of internal beam papillon radiotherapy, 6 weeks external beam radiotherapy alongside 8 weeks chemotherapy followed which all looked good, but unfortunately I was told I had a regrowth of the tumour in March 2018. Major surgery then followed, including a stoma bag (which I thought was for life), but thanks to the skills of the surgeons at Ipswich Hospital was able to be reversed in September 2018. This is my personal challenge as swimming is one of the few sustained cardio exercises my body can handle and hopefully a way of raising money for wider awareness of Bowel Cancer. 5K and 2+ hours of freestyle is not only daunting but the hours in the pool to get myself ready will be a big challenge. The swim itself will be on Sunday 10 November at London aquatic centre. I hope you can support me in my fundraiser!
xx Adam
