Over the last weekend in October I was in Washington D.C. supporting the Allied Forces Foundation (AFF), a UK/US charity, host over 100 wounded, ill, and injured service people and veterans from countries including England, Scotland, Poland, Georgia, Denmark and others ahead of their annual Marine Corp Marathon on the 29th October. 

Unfortunately, one veteran who was supposed to run the event passed away in the weeks proceeding to the event and on the Friday, I was asked if I would run in his place. I had only one answer. 

On Sunday 29th October, I ran/walked/stumbled the Marine Corp Marathon in Washington D.C., my first ever marathon and with no training leading up to it. It rained, it poured, it lashed it down with wind and then baked us in hot sun light for just over 6 hours as I made my way through Washington D.C. in support of the AFF.

At times I questioned what I was doing, others I just laughed to myself but other times I remember how lucky I was.
