Story
Last summer our youngest son made the mistake of going out on his bike with friends without his helmet. He came off his bike at speed and suffered a serious head injury (fractured skull and severe bruising on the brain). What followed was the toughest two weeks for both him and us, with his admission in to critical care at QA hospital, Portsmouth, the threat of an induced coma, and then his transfer to the specialist neurology ward at Southampton. Due to COVID, I was unable to visit him on the ward, but every kindness was extended to Emma who was by his side as he began his recovery. We were lucky, Benji appears to have made a full recovery and has no long term effects. At his discharge, the consultant was amazed at his recovery as his injury was so pronounced. There are many less lucky, and Emma shared a ward with some families who were experiencing far more challenging times ahead. Any support to these wonderful nurses and specialists by way of equipment for them or the families would be such a help. I am running 53 miles across the South Downs Way with an Army friend - 2 Marathons over 2 days across some of the most beautiful (and hilly!) countryside in the UK. Your support will get me through the tougher times in this physical challenge - anything you give will go to G2 ward of the hospital. Thank you!
