Motor Neurone Disease moves fast. It takes away time, it takes away independence and it has no cure. Every day we support people affected by MND. We fund ground-breaking research. We campaign for better care. We’re here for everyone who needs us. Because with MND, every day matters.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In May, I will be running the Edinburgh Marathon to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association, a charity which helps those affected by motor neurone disease and to fund research into finding a cure.

Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a progressive disease that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting.

Last year I lost my uncle David to MND 2 years after his initial diagnosis. During this time he experienced rising muscle weakness and wasting, resulting in loss of mobility and independence. There are few effective treatments for MND and therefore many people will undergo the same horrific experience of their body slowly failing them. I therefore wish to raise as much money as possible for the Motor Neurone Disease Association to help those affected and to aid research into effective treatments for MND. I cannot express how much I will appreciate any and all help to achieve my goal of raising £1000.

Thank you all
