Story
So here we are. Over four years since my old roomie Miles signed me up for my first half because "you're overweight and unfit" I'm here running my fifth Cardiff 13.1 miler for the awesome SOS Africa. Traditionally the fifth outing is usual pants, such as Rocky V, The Fifth Element and the Fifth Beatle (whoever that was, I dunno, personally I'm not a Beatle fan, Zeppelin's more my thing). However, since my first appalling effort with Nick Cooper came in at 2 hours 35 minutes (Nick kept stopping, I was pretty fat and my hair slowed me down), my times have steadily tumbled, resulting in me beating my dad's (you may know him as Gareth, The Don or Top Bloke) family best time of 1 hour 40 min by 1 second (ah thank you) in this year's Bath Half, I have every confidence that this fifth endeavour will be more in keeping with Metallica's Black Album, the Fifth Commandment (Honour Thy Mother and Father, respect) and Albert The Fifth Musketeer. Yes folks, I'm aiming for 1 hour 35, which will be a full hour off my 2006 time. Surely that's a little incentive for you to dig deep? If not, consider the fact that you'll all get to see my phenomenal legs in running shorts, oohh la la. I've so far raised (with the help of the lovely Future Publishing) over £2,000 for SOS Africa since my first run, and President Matt has used it to help a lot of less fortunate kids than ourselves through school. Hopefully with your help we can help a few more.
