In 2018, myself and Rach were expecting our first baby. We were so excited and felt on top of the world. However, we were brought crashing back down to earth at our 20 week scan when we were informed that he was underweight. We were placed under consultant care with regular scans with the ultimate aim of an early induction and likely NICU stay, but there was a plan for his arrival. However, suddenly one evening, our lives changed forever. At 25 weeks after some sudden pain and spontaneously bleeding, an ultrasound scan confirmed our deepest fears that his heart had stopped beating. After this, my wife was induced to give birth to our little boy Matthew, sadly his eyes did not open but he had my wife's cheeks and my nose. 

The days that were spent in the hospital were (and still are!) a blur, but I will never forget the incredible empathy and kindness of the midwives in our ward. They introduced us to a memory box from the 4louis charity which allowed us to remember our little boy forever. This included a teddy, an angel, his little hat and nappy, blanket,  hand and footprints and photos. But the biggest comfort was knowing that we were not alone in this. 

3 years later, we have 2 happy and healthy children but we will never forget Matthew and that is thanks to the incredible work 4louis have done and continue to do on a daily basis to those in similar circumstances. They need all the support they can get, so please donate generously!

4Louis is a charity established in December 2009, following the stillbirth of our own son Louis, to provided tailored memory boxes to various hospital units and hospices across the UK and Ireland. These are provided for families who suffer the trauma of miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal/infant loss, and the death of a child up to the age of 16. We also support midwives and nurses with other vital equipment such as moses baskets, cuddle cots, camera equipment, and support with bereavement suites. 4Louis can also take part in your study days as speakers and can even fund study days if required.
