Muscular Dystrophy UKs #TeamOrange are taking on the Great North Run 2019 to take a huge stride in the fight against muscle-wasting conditions.

Story

I’ve signed up to do the Great North Run for the fourth time this September.  I'll be running in support of a close family friend’s son, Ryan, who was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy in 2017.

Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a rare progressive muscle-wasting condition of which 2,500 people in the UK are affected. You can read more on what DMD is by clicking on the link below.

It is absolutely heartbreaking to hear this affecting any family and its something that no child or family should have ever have to go through.  Our friends Cieran & Claire have been doing some amazing fundraising over the couple of years, creating a fund called ‘Our Fight For Ryan’ within the Muscular Dystrophy UK charity. All the funds raised in support of this fund go directly into research of Duchenne muscular dystrophy for treatment and cures for those affected.

All donations are welcome and very much appreciated by us all. I'm also going to match the first £500 donated in the hope that we can reach the revised target of £1000 total.
